Date: September 21, 2008 at along the lakefront in Chicago at Place: Montrose Harbor or in Palatine at Deer Grove Forest Preserve. Registration is now open -- don't delay, register TODAY!
On August 23, 2007, Respiratory Health Association of Metropolitan Chicago (RHAMC) organized a family-friendly multi-charity fundraising walk for the lung health community. Thirteen charities, including ARDS Foundation, participated in the exciting event that brought together these lung communities for a common cause-lung health.
The weather cooperated for a perfect day! The Respiratory Health Association and all of its partners raised over $100,000. All of the ARDS Foundation teams together raised about $16,000. A sincere thank you to everyone who supported ARDS Foundation by sponsoring one of our ARDS Teams, or by sponsoring an ARDS Foundation volunteer who offered them support.
And remember that next year, you can get much more involved in this fundraiser... you can walk and join one of the ARDS Foundation's Team or if you do not live near Chicago, you can organize a virtual hike with family and friends in honor or memory of a loved one who had endured ARDS and we will do whatever we can to facilitate your efforts
And just remember that when we work together, We CAN make a difference!
Concept
Respiratory Health Association of Metropolitan Chicago (RHAMC) is
organizing a family-friendly multi-charity fundraising walk for the
lung health community. They are inviting organizations involved in
asthma, lung cancer, COPD, ARDS, sarcoidosis, and air quality issues to
join us in raising money for all of our organizations in a combined Walk.
Walk Details
The walks will be held on Sunday, September 23, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. along Chicago's lakefront (Montrose Harbor) and in Palatine (Deer
Grove). Paths for one mile and three mile walks will be marked. Each
walk site will include food, music and other entertainment for the
families, exhibit space for sponsors and walk teams, and a healthy dose
of mission.
Fundraising Details
ARDS Foundation will register teams and walkers to participate in the
event on behalf of ARDS Foundation. Our teams of walkers will have an
opportunity to solicit contributions from friends, family, neighbors,
and colleagues and networks. ARDS Foundation will retain 75% of all
funds raised by our walkers, the balance being used to defray costs
undertaken by RHAMC. Any remaining portion of the 25% fee will be used
toward lung disease research in Metropolitan Chicago. A registration
fee of $10 per walker will cover costs of t-shirts, water, park
permits, etc. from all walk participants.
